Current Financial Guidance and Profit Expectations: Banco do Brasil has revised its profit guidance for the upcoming year, now expecting a net income between BRL 18 billion and BRL 21 billion for 2024, mainly due to increased provisions and challenges in the agribusiness sector. The expected net profit for Q4 2023 is estimated between BRL 3 billion and BRL 6 billion, suggesting continued volatility and uncertainty in the agribusiness portfolio.

Challenges in Agribusiness Portfolio: The agribusiness sector is experiencing significant delinquency, with defaults rising to a historical high of 5.3%. This situation is attributed to adverse agricultural conditions impacting farmers’ cash flows and repayment capacities. The bank has initiated the MP 1314 program to facilitate loan renegotiations with an aim to stabilize this portfolio.

Loan Growth and Portfolio Management: Although the bank has reported a contraction in loan growth, there is an optimistic outlook for the future. The bank plans to target approximately BRL 24 billion in negotiations under the MP 1314 program. These efforts aim to enhance liquidity and reduce risks associated with non-performing loans, particularly in the agribusiness sector.
